Cirrus Clouds



Height: above 20,000 ft


Shape: Thin and wispy and are made up of ice crystals which are from freezing water droplets


Weather: Fair weather


Color: White




Cirrostratus Clouds



Height: Cirrostratus Clouds are always above 5000m and below 13000m. They are classified as in the high cloud group.

Shape: Cirrostratus Clouds are thin sheet-like clouds that tend to cover the whole sky.

Color: The sun can shine through these clouds and when you see the sun through Cirrostratus clouds it looks as though the sun has a halo around it.

Weather: These clouds usually come 12-24 hours before a rain or snow storm.

Cirrocumulus Clouds


Height: 7,000 meters, 16,0000 feet


Shape: Large clouds, looks like a patch or tuft, and they are also round.


Color: Grayish color


Weather: Pretty good weather

Altostratus


Height: 2000-7000 meters, 20,000 feet


Shape: Very thin


Color: Darker Clouds, grayish


Weather: Rain, wet weather

Cumulus Clouds


Height: 500-2000 feet


Color: Cotton colored, or clear white

Shape: They grow upward which is why people call them the tower clouds and they look like cotton balls just floating in the air

Weather: Has to be bad weather like, rain, moisture, and sometimes in more severe weather like tornadoes, or waterspouts.

Stratus Clouds






Height: below 2000 ft






Color: grayish white






Shape: thin and spread out around the sky






Weather: no precipitation but sometimes mist
